Is There a Future for Trade Binderies?
Recently I read an article written in 1897 about a book binder being concerned about the future of trade binderies. He was competing with printers for their business. Well it's over a 100 years later, and many successful trade binderies exist. I'm convinced that as long as there is printing there is a place for trade binderies.
What I do believe has changed over time is how trade binderies remain in business. Like many other industries we are finding the old ways don't work as well any more. In this age there needs to be a stronger focus on the customers' needs, marketing and good service. Specific to trade binderies we need to rise above just getting printers' overflow work, and provide unique offerings that printers desire and don't do themselves.
